After a fantastic first summer working with Franklin River Rafting it was time to move to the Northern Hemisphere.
Every year we spend some quality time in Grins Austria, to regain energy for our Norwegian summer
Beautiful view over Landeck and its stunning mountain peaks |
This spring we were lucky enough that due to good snow conditions several ski resorts were still open. Our work means that we are generally living a endless summer so it was great to get a chance to go skiing, something that a girl from Tirol misses dearly.
We chose to go to Ischgl which is just a few minutes drive from where we stayed.
That night we got a message from Timmy and Christina who are part of Cradle Mountain Canyons . They were in the area and keen to join us for some days of skiing.

What a great harmonising color scheme ! |
He was charging all day with no major stacks.
Christina has been skiing since she is 3 years old and was an excellent teacher for Timmy.
We spend all morning discovering the area around Ischgl. It is one of the biggest interconnected Ski areas in Tirol. A village with 1500 souls, 238km of very well prepared pistes, 43 state-of-the-art cable cars and lifts and 1100 snow machines. One of the most popular winter hot spots in Austria.
Lunch time at 2600m with views reaching all the way to Italy |
On our way down to the car we passed the biggest open-air arena in the snow, the Idalp.
Deep Purple were set to hit the stage only a couple of days later.
